The ongoing EMNet project — National ED Inventories (NEDI) — was featured in a Becker’s Hospital Review article about the rise in freestanding EDs (FSEDs) in the USA. The article cites the 2020 publication by Darya Herscovici and colleagues to describe how the number of US FSEDs has increased since 2001. According to NEDI, FSEDs represented 1% of EDs in 2001 and currently represent around 15% of US EDs.
