Dr. Camargo is an emergency physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital; research epidemiologist at the Channing Laboratory, Brigham and Women's Hospital; and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine & Epidemiology at Harvard University. His interest in research began in college when he led several alcohol-related studies at Stanford Medical School. He now focuses on respiratory/allergy emergencies and the interface between the emergency department and public health. Dr. Camargo's work is funded by grants from NIH, AHRQ, industry, and foundations (e.g., the EMF Center of Excellence Award). He is an active contributor to the scientific literature with >300 peer-reviewed publications. He has served on several national committees, including many NIH study sections, two IOM committees, the US Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, and the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Third Expert Panel. He is past Chair of the ACEP Research Section and recently served as President of the American College of Epidemiology.
